The Somali Runners Community Organization recognizes its mission to serve the young generation of athletes in North America and the broader community in all states and beyond. Its major effort is to provide an opportunity for young athletes to achieve their maximum potential both athletically and educationally. It is organization’s belief that many of the most important athletic learning experiences take place outside of the traditional classroom. Interstate young athletic competition provides young fellows with the opportunity to test themselves against the best in their sport in short, middle, and long distance running scales through participation in training and competitive activities. The organization hopes to teach several value: an appreciation for the benefit of hard work, motivation to achieve great ambitions, perseverance in both winning and losing situations; a sense of group loyalty and the ability to work as a team; a feeling of pride in accomplishment in fair and honest means; an appreciation for cultural diversity, human development and continuous learning; and a sense of good sportsmanship and a high level personal integrity and ethical conduct.
